sumone brought up convertign a cortina into a 4x4.. either with a landrover frame.. or hilux...

i know in south africa they have a 3L V6 matted up to a toyota hilux 5 speed and a transfer case in their Ford Cortina Ute 4x4 versions..

but upon thinking.

the XY Falcon had some Ute's and sedans that came with a 250 Xflow and 4WD

and the Ford Bronco had a 250Xflow version also here in australia... was that 4x4 ?? or only the v8 version...

anyone in the know able to help..

XY utes only - no sedans or Crossflow - only log head AFAIK

The 4x4 XY ute used Jeep axles and transfer case - maybe gearbox too...

and they slanted the motor to clear the front diff, and added a wedge shaped carb spacer to keep it level, and a modified sump and oil pickup, and different engine mounts, and ......etc, etc,

Bronco was available with the 250 crossflow and 4x4, havent seen many though as most were 302/351.

yeh i know who she is.. she was over extacic when she bought her P100

guy here in perth jsut posted on another forum that he was after some bits for his GT Taunus (Fastback)

he's got the TC/TD Cortina Equivelant.. and he was wondering where he'd buy indicators and badges and other stuff..

Ebay was the spot :P
good old Argentina.. those fastbacks look mad.

I saw the only Avenger coupe I've ever seen in Oz, last week. It was near my house. They were common in NZ but never made it here. Probably rare over there now, too. Sort of look like a Centura with 2 doors; very much a match for the Taunus.

Trying to duplicate the old Falcon 4X4 would be a mammoth task, but to drop the Corty body on a Landy frame should be dooable. You can choose wheelbase from 88" & 108", in the old leaf spring form and 100" & 110" in the later coil type which would be a better option. It would not be too hard to alter the length if none of these suit. Width might be a problem, only a tape measure will answer that.

Marks had a bell housing to mate a Ford 250 with the old Land Rover manual four-speed, but I have no idea if it is still available.

Ritters did a conversion to allow a C4 to connect directly to the Range Rover transfer case. These were a locally produced item used to a convert manual Rangies to autos long before the factory produced an auto option. Again I have no idea if parts are still available.
