2bbl carb

I'm looking into 2 bbl carbs and was considering the holley 2300 series but am wondering about the size. I was planning on using the 350cfm but am wondering if the 500cfm is too much air for a 200 running a stock cam. Does anyone have this setup and if so how does it work for you?

After running a couple of Holleys and a couple of Autolite 2100s I'm sold on the Autolites. The Holleys have a bit more top end pull, but the Autolites are a lot less hassle for a driver.

Howdy 65BGTBNGR:

You're right on! The 350 may be too big for a relatively stock engine. It would have a great WOT, but idle and transitions may be a delicate balance. The Holleys are very tuneable. Anyone knowledgeable of tuning a 4 barrel should be able to help you. Be sure to support the carb with as much initial advance as you can use.

The heartache is that the 500 cfm carbs are usually cheaper!

The 2305 holley progressive 2 bbl works but is a bit much on a basicly stock engine. Have had good luck with Pinto 2300 carbs( Webber/ Holley)
also another source are some of the 2 bbl webbers used on Fiats. Around 250 CFM is adiquite for a 200.

The 2100s are a very good carb. Very well balanced and once you tune them...you don't have to touch them again. Holley...you have to retune every few days it seems like.

Howdy All:

The Holley Weber progressive two barrel is a 5200 series. This is the carb that was used on a jillion Pintos.

The 2300 is a Holley wide based two barrel that is commonly available in 350 cfm and 500 cfm versions.

The 2100 is an Autolite/Motorcraft wide based version of the Holley with a few improvements. They ranged in CFM capacity from 190 to 424 cfm. It is no longer available new, but still easily obtainable in rebuilt/remanufactured.

All of these carbs require careful and specific tuning to get the most out of them when adapting to a Ford Six.

The Holley 2305 was mentioned in a previous post. Does anyone know where to find one. I understand Holley does not make them anymore.

Afriend of mine has a 350 2305 I will see if he wants to sell it if your interested .
Also I ment a carb off a 2300 cc pinto motor above not a 2300 model Holley.

$100??? What kind of condition is it in? Is it electric or manual choke? 100 might be a little high for me. Talk me into it.

HELLO T'2256

The Holley 2300 500 cfm carb will work perfectly on a wild 250 cube 2V engine. My ex next door neighbour had a Chrysler Valiant Charger Hemi 265 with one.

(This was a Plymouth Valiant sedan with 105 inch wheelbase, repackaged as a Challenger -style sports back. Engine was a sort of Chevy 250 -style straight six with Hemi head and came stock with 2 barrel carb. optional triple Webers. 14.4 second 1/4 mile times!)

His car had an E38 cam which had 272 degrees duration. He tried a 2100 Autolite, which he rated as a better carb, but couldn't re-jet it easily because we Kiwis don't have parts back-up for them. So he got a Holley. Problem is, the 2300's have a nastyvertical split line between the float bowel that leaks fuel when you work on them, or sometimes during normal use. Autolite 2 barrels have a horizontal split line, that does't leak as easily. And some were annular discharge, which is more efficient. As for me. I just use the Holley 2300 #4412 500 cfm throttle body on my ride...the LPG carb meters propane to it, and leaks aren't an issue!

8) I have a 2300 350 cfm Holley on my I-6. It has headers, duraspark, cam, bored,etc.. I just completed a 3500 mile trip and found that I need to rejet as its to much gas at low rpms around town. At 70mph its fine lots of power and 25 mpg.
Hope this helps Jim

i have the holley 500 cfm model 2300 crome zince finish manual choke and it is on my 200 40 over wild cam 2500-8500 rpm lunati and it runs real great not a problem

Howdy All:

Hey Jim, What # jets do you have in it now? Is it plumbed through a funnel adaptor or mounted to a modified intake? How many turns out are your low speed air screws?

Thanks in advance?

These were 5200 series carbs by Holley licensed from Weber. The Canadian versions had Vaccum secondaries and no electronics. They would probably need re-jetting to work properly with the larger I-6. Hope this helps you out!!!
