Hi All,

Stovebolt sells a 2bbl into 1bbl adapter for $15. Is there a good reason to use Clifford's $85 adaptor instead? And can an Autolite 2100 be used? I don't want to pay $450 for Clifford's Weber DGES. I've got a '71 250 with a C4 and a Carter RBS soon switching from Load-Matic to DSII. Thanks.

Howdy LimeMaverick:

To the best of my knowledge Tom (Stove Bolt) only markets the adapter to mount the Holley/Weber style two barrel. They usually take some fitting, finishing and adapting. If that's true then No, it will not work with an Autolite 2100 2 barrel.

If your '71 250 is OEM stock, it will not have a Load-a-matic distributor, but rather a point type distributor with both centrifugal and vacuum advance. IMHO it is a much better distributor for performance and tuning than the Load0a-Matic. This distributor responds very well to Petronix Ignitor and coil upgrades.

Of course, My favorite is the FoMoCo DSII system.

Adios, David

For some more specific info on the Clifford vs. Stovebolt adapter check out my Holley-Weber conversion webpage: http://home.centurytel.net/fordfan/Falcon/HW Conversion.html

The Stovebolt adapter is not designed for the Motorcraft 2100. This carb shares the same bolt pattern as the Holley 2300 and is larger than the Holley 5200/Weber DGV series carbs. Unless Clifford has raised their prices, you should be able to get the adapter for around $60 not $85.
