here is a question for the people with more clues than me. i have an eb 2 falcon 3.23's with the , 4.0 , ive put a mild cam in it, 2 1/2 exhust, with one semi of set muffler and a pod filter. Goes ok but is a slug of the line, ive got a set of 3.7's and lsd center. Now if i change the diff gears my speedo will be out, thats kool, but if i changhe my speedo gear, ive been told the auto will crack the shits because all the shift points will be up the shit, has any one done this and succeeded, or will i have to put up with the dodgy speedo from hell . Ive heard u can go up to 3.45's with no probs as far as changing the spedo gear but over that and u run into troble

That might be a FordForums kind of tech question. Just a guess. They did do some shift improver investigation the other year and cobbled up a DIY circuit to jump into the harness.

Since the engine ECU on all 6cyl falcons EB2 onwards (ie 4.0l) controls the transmission I would have thought any of the decent remappers (eg Chiptorque) maybe able to remap the tranny side of things. The other alternative is to run a separate ecu for the tranny (the 4 speed auto EA + EB1 and V8 EB / ED / EF / EL) all had separate engine and trans ECU's. It would be a pig to wire though BUT I know the 6cyl trans ecu have a separate EPROM, so they maybe easy to remap - these ROMs are a standard format ROM, so you could read out (and edit) the data - unlike the weirdo ROMs fitted to the engine ECUs. I hope this helps.

You can buy speedo corrector boxes. The ECU gets its info from a wire from the speedo. the corrector box will alter this readout and it will be fine.
You can get these boxes from 4wd specialists.
There is a thread dedicated to this subject on ford forums.
There was a guy EB6 on N2O running 4.11's with his auto and the corrector box and he said it was fine.
The correcter cost him $120 including fitting.

Hope that helps
Dan
