Hi all,

I've got a 4.1 efi XF Falcon PV and was wondering the cost of getting a turbo installed including the work done on the engine such as porting, new pistons etc. Also what size turbo would be required for an engine of this size.

I was also wondering if it would be necessary to replace the onboard computer to deal with the increase in fuel flow and would new injectors also be necessary.

I was considering purchasing a second hand turbo but was unsure if this was a wise option as the condition may be a bit dodgy.

Cheers

I remember a while back one of the Torana guys with good technical background saying if you could do some of the basic work yourself (assuming good mechanical knowledge) the cost was around 1400 smackers. If you want a higher boost motor, obviously, it'll cost way more.

There's a guy in my area (of Sydney) with a turbo XF panelvan registered VAN-250. I'm trying to catch him and find out what he's done. It's fairly mild, though.

Adam.

8) Talk to jmacjmacjmac on the Moparmarket Forum,(thats probably who Addo is talking about). He is a walking encyclopedia on turbos and carbs etc. He has been involved in some very low budget turbos that have been very successfull.

I'm not after anything drastic just thought a bit of power for all the fuel sucking it does would be nice. I might chase that bloke down.

Thanx

The size turbo you want would maybe be a t3/t4 it spools pretty quick and not a whole lot of lag, and probably the right size unless you are running an insane amount of boost.

in my opinion, the t3/t4 is too small, as a garret to4e can spool 14psi before 2400rpm. the t3/t4 will run out of efficiency up in the rev range (around 3400rpm+), which in my opinion, is where the fun starts.

try speaking to 6BOOST (user name) on www.performanceforums.com as he is the Turbo Ford Guru, with a 600rwhp EA Falcon 6cyl.
