Hi All,
I have a 65 Mustang with a 200 6 and an automatic. The motor that is currently in the car is a C8 200 and according to the (great!) info in the tech section of this site the 68 200 uses a 6 bolt bellhousing while the 65 200 uses a 4 bolt bellhousing. I've found (I think) a 65 200 motor to put in but need to figure out what bellhousing I have (and if I need to track one of those down too). So the first question is how can I tell the difference? Would it be possible to bolt a 4 bolt bellhousing to a motor that takes a 6 bolt? On the one that is on the car I can see 4 holes for bolts, plus the starter on one side and then another small "tab" on the other side. Right now 3 of the 4 bolt holes have bolts. The 4th one doesn't quite line up to the block, and neither does the smaller "tab" - they are both about 1/4 of an inch off.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Ben
