4 stud to 5 stud axils for xp

I am wanting to change to 5 stud pattern on my xp and install disc brake front . are 5 stud axils available or do i have to change complete rear end
Thanks Geoff

You could be lucky and find a Disc frontend for your XP.

XP's only had 4 Stud pattern unless it was a ute or van.

Taxi's and Police cars came with 5 Stud and the Disc Brake front ends are like Hens teeth now.

I would suggest if you want to change over to 5 stud pattern you will want to look at a Kit from some one like the Castlemaine Rod Shop that will update your brakes, rear end etc.

Commercial rear ends are not what I would suggest in a sedan or coupe.

As cool23 has said (thanks for coming BTW cool23) there pretty rare these days.
I did all this stuff about 25 years ago.
If you really need 5 stud, then there are ways.
XW-XY stb axles with discs and steering BJ adapters.
Centura rear end or compact fairlane 8inch.
Cut down 9inch
Hilux?
I would suggest you look into BTR types for anything under 200kw.
What are you planning to power it with?

8 Inch from a Comet will bolt in and forget the 3 speed look for a 5 Speed as the econmy will be wonderfull.

I reckon the best thing I ever did was put the 5 speed into the T with the 170 motor.

Oh Aussie7mains your welcome.

Good advice, the 221 with 2v head ive done, and works well, but the 3 speed, not really into slushies, Id go with 5 speed, and if you cant get to that money wize, a single rail will be cheaper and easier as bellhousing etc are easy to find. XD XE? cable clutch v8 boxes are better as they dont have the lower first gear that six cylinder ones do, Id try to keep above 3;1 in first gear, a top loader is great and was used behind 221s in XW.
The comet axle is a good idea, as long as you can get the ratios etc you desire, 3.23:1 is a good start with 14 inch wheels and the six.

PS just notice "clint" in a post below has just advertised a heap of manual bellhousings etc for the sixes, I dont know where you are, but Im in Perth and may be somewhere near "clint" if that helps
