64 Ford Falcon muffler

Hello, I need a muffler for my 1964 Ford Falcon. The one installed on the car now is 5" in diameter and it is too wide, it touches the gas tank on the side and the leaf spring on the other.
I found a 3 1/4" muffler from Tractor Supply but I don't know if a tractor muffler will work for an automobile. Any one know if this will work. If not where to find the right one.

Do you have a stock exhaust system, or maybe by now with an old car something custom or home-made? That might be why it's a tight fit. But I would think a muffler is a muffler. It might not be as quiet as you'd like but it should do something. Nothing wrong with tractor parts. Back in the late 70s I bought some tractor parts for my '57 MGA at the local farm store. I had some bicycle parts on that car too.

I had a Honda SL175 in high school, muffler rusted out. So I got two small lawn mower mufflers, cut the one big muffler off and welded on the two mower mufflers, one for each cylinder. Sounded…unique, but not too loud. I would think if inlet and outlet sizes fit, it should work pretty good. Made to handle the flow for that size exhaust 🤞

Tractors are pretty low speed engines, so lower overall flow.
Case in point, the DR-8 universal tractor muffler is sized for a 4 cylinder John Deere displacing about 200 cubic inches.
In the super cheap motorcycle dual sport community it has seen use as a get-you-by muffler that will just work on a 650cc (40 cubic in) Kawasaki.
