65/66 V8 fan shroud on I6

Could someone tell me why a 65/66 V8 fan shroud does not directly fit onto a 65/66 200ci radiator. I know it will bolt up with thre proper brackets but I hear it needs to be trimmed. Any experience with this. I just want an idea before I order one.

The v8 itself sits further back in the engine bay.

What about the inlet that's opposite from a six cyl radiator????

I have an original Mustang GT fan shroud on my '61 Wagon. It was a direct bolt on affair. The upper radiator hose area, I bent the shroud to go over the hose nipple. Works fine & no more vapor lock problems since then. (many years)
