I know this subject has kinda been beat to death recently, but I have to know something...
Does anybody know if a Holley 5200 with the ford adapter and stovebolt 2v adapter plus air cleaner will all fit under the hood of a 66 stang? Is there any special low profile or dropped base air cleaner that can remedy the problem people are having with hood clearance issues? If I can save 50 bucks by not buying the cliffy adapter, I'd like to.

thanks in advance for any comments.

Mine fit, but just barely. I ended up buying a 1" x 4" x 6-8" chunk of aluminum and milled my own adaptor. The advantages are that its shorter, you can turn the carb so the bowl faces forward, and you can mill an opening for the PCV hose too.

I did all the work with a drill press, air grinder, and hand files.

yea i ran into the same problem thinking about hood clearance, i eventually shelled out the extra $$ and bought the clifford. I have it all hooked up and running and it works great, the advantages to the clifford if you dont have a cable throttle is that it aligns the throttle lever for some easier modifications and reduces the hood clearance requirement greatly, for me it was over 1 1/2 inches. good luck, i think this has been my best performing mod yet
