well i went ahead and bought a new rebuilt carb. installed it and theres still a horrible stumble under load and i played a bit with some of the vac lines and got it to idle super smooth, but the stumble is still there.

im guessing the mixture is still a bit off and the vac advance isnt right

anyone got a vac layout for a 72 250 with a 3speed?

carter rbs 1bbl

thanx

1972 250, manual transmission:

advance side of the distributor's dual vacuum canister is connected to ported vacuum nipple on the Carter carb; the retard side is connected to straight manifold vacuum.

variations:

eventually, a distributor vacuum solenoid and a spark delay valve are spliced into the advance line.

so, your Carter stumbles consistently under load? check for vacuum leaks first, and check your spark plugs.

i know the plugs need changed, they only have a few miles on them litterally like 60 but ive had 3 different carbs on it trying to find the right one and they are toasty looking, i drove it and itll go ok if you baby it but any more than 1/4 throttle and it starts buckin and bogging. i have not yet changed the points or condenser so im sure theyre part of it and havent checked the timeng yet either. im gonna just replace all of the vac lines since ive checked a couple and theyre pretty hard and cracking up
