77 Log Head valves?

Was given a 250 (from a 'Stang 6-8 swap) with an emission label on the valve cover: Complies with 1977 emission......
I have three CXXX engines for my early 60's rides so I haven't paid too much attention to the later info. I know the later ones had larger valves and hardened seats. Is the '77 head one of these?.

The 250 is dimensionally divergent somewhat and won't fit early tranny configs. If I use it I would want to put a standard tranny on it and know I'd need a flywheel/block plate and SBF bell etc.

Thanx - PB

Generally speaking, the D8 head is the one most people seek for the larger intakes and induction hardened exhaust seats. You may have lucked out, but would have to pull the head to know for sure.

Powerband,

Tell us the numbers on the head's log intake manifold. They are between the carb and the firewall. Valve covers are easy to swap. Check the Head's numbers.

Yes, the '77 head has the 1.76 inch intake valves.

You're right. A 250 uses a v/8 bellhousing. It has the same flywheel bolt pattern as the V/8, BUT the V/8 flywheel has balance counter weights build into it that the I/6 doesn't use or want. The clutch and pressure plates should be available at the local parts stores.

Good Luck
