96 f150 wanting oxygen

Where can i get an oxygen tank? To hook on my truck ive seen it happen

but i need a tank and then i have to figure out how to hook it up. but i

need to know where to get a bottle with oxygen?

Why?
Are you trying to create one very large bonfire with you inside it? Whatever it is you're going to try, try something else.
 
its just like nitrous but not as cold and we did it to my friends camaro now and its a hell lot faster.

Oxygen LOVES engines.....especially pistons.
If you don't like pistons, feed them to oxygen.
It will eat them very quickly.

The reason nitrous oxide works well is that it is 2/3rds nitrogen.
That works as a "shock absorber" for the flame in the cylinder,
giving you a fast burn, not an explosion.
 
also most fuels/oils with spontaniously combust in the presence of an oxygen rich atmosphere (read spraying pure O2 on something) you can even get oily shop rags to lite up with it. I think you will have a good chance or a backfire or preignition issue

The reason is, oygen supports burning, but there is no nitrogen to dampen a sudden explosion. Nitrous oxide quells burning becasue its the atmophere which carries just 36% oygen by weight. This tiny amount of extra air has to have excess gasoline to stop an explosion. Nitrogen is inert (won't burn). Nitrous oxide systems add up to 47% power, and do so with a minimum of risk. If you add oxygen, you are going to have to factor in the cost of a new engine, because it'll end up looking like the internals of the 60's Vangard rocket. Le bomb, non?

Nitrous is cheaper, but you'll need a rebuild 300 engine with good pistons to play safe.


The only possible way is to use it as a fogger like the old Nascar dudes did in the ealy 70's with nitrous. You spray it into the engine bay, and hope the 50% increase in power won't take the pistons out in an engine hich will now run at a 17:1 air fuel ratio. Bang bang. I don't wan't to be extridighted to America to beare evidence at a corners court. "Mr Stevenson, this mans folks say you told him he could use oxygen in an truck..."

Well i have a bottle and lines and im buying solenoids for 100 from a friend and then putting it an my truck well thanks for the advice.
 
Well, good luck to you then. I hope you (and your truck) don't get hurt. There's a reason hardly anybody does this...
 
Way back, I'd borrowed a little Paasche airbrush to repaint something - maybe my guitar. Anyhow, it was supposed to run off a can of propellant. Realising this wasn't adequate for long, I went up to my old high school, and asked if I could use the woodwork facilities for my project. No problem, they said, and left me to my own devices...

Anyhow, scouting around saw me find a couple of adapter fittings for the Paasche air pressure line. So far, so good. But I couldn't get it to match the compressor. Looking further, noticed the oxygen tank in the welding rig - same threads! :shock: It's starting to seem promising, I thought. Then, closer inspection of the tank reveals a label saying not to oil the threads. Gets me thinking. Oh - OK, oxygen plus hydrocarbon gives an oxidised hydrocarbon. Hmm. Maybe it's not a good idea to use raw oxygen to propel nitrocellulose.

Honestly, I was that close to using it! That afternoon, borrowed a couple of fittings from a mate and returned the next day to use the compressor. Much happier with that result!

His point is that pure oxygen mixed with a volatile hydrocarbon can cause an explosion.

Not just a really fast burn (like what and engine is supposed to do) but a downright explosion, like a bomb.
