A genuin 2v iron log head - DIY *Now with pics*

Hello all of you!

First time out here for me and I would like to start with a salute for this site. It’s absolutely fantastic. I read everything and really enjoy it. It’s fantastic to work in my garage and try to overcome the restrictive nature of the log head and then suddenly one day by chance browse in to this site just to find out that theirs a whole lot people out there with the same spirit to solve it.

Well here is my setup. It was invented in a CAD system just to se if there was material enough in the big log intake to mount a 2v-carb via an adapter plate to get something like a real 2v head. I didn’t like the 2 into 1 adapters on the market so I decided to se what could be done.
I found out that if the adapter plate is 15mm high and the log intake hole is machined near to the bolt holes, slightly angled, 5-8˚, a Weber 32/36 would be possible to mount with 8˚ inclination of the holes in the adapter plate.
I have high res pics but don´t know how to add them!
Please tell me.

Finally some greetings to Dave and Dennis Schjeldal for the FF Performance handbook, very nice reading. It’s on top of my bed table.
Of course I’m interested in the aluminum head and one day it´s on.

This is what i use. A 250 head from a -70 Mustang. Big log but fairly small runners. The volume in the head is 1240cc. (Thanks Schjeldahl brothers) I have a C4 and 2.83:1 in the rear end so thats why am a bit concerned about low to mid range performance. I don´t go any diper in that now.

Close up of the modified 1.75" hole. You can clearly se both diameters used. ø32 and ø36 slightly angeled from the vertical plane.

All together. Thers a small trade-off with the bolts near the holes but i think it´s minor compared to a full 300cfm intake possibility.

The reason for doing this is that in the future i would like to try the Offenhauser 3x1 setup and therefor i don´t wanna spoil the head by mill the 1v boss flat.

Nice idea, but have you tried any carb on it? Will it make too close friends with valve cover? How about carb linkage? Just things you might want to check out.

the bolts holding the adaptor down dont get in the way of the throttle plate?

The throttle shafts on a Weber 32/36 are not like a Holley 2300. They are like a half Holley 750 spread bore. And the throttle plates opens (downwards) towards the centre of the carburettor body so it will clear the bolts.

gopher_6_9: What kind of CAD-files do you prefer? Release?

No, theirs no interference between the carb and related parts. Don’t know if the Holley/Weber 5200 will fit straight away but the Weber 32/36 works fine. Of course you have to fabricate a special linkage. There will be pictures available soon. I’m in the assembly stage now, just waiting on my push rods from Mike.
