A question about Motorcraft carbs.

My question regards the Autolite with the annular discharge versus a Motorcraft 4bbl.

Back in the early 80's I had a Capri RS with a 302 with a Motorcraft 4bbl. Cant remember for sure but I want to say it was a spreadbore and the numbers said it came off a mid 70's 360 Ford truck motor.

What are the differences between the Autolite and the Motorcraft carbs? Anyone know anything about the Motorcraft's?

I do remember it was supposed to have been rated about 450-460cfm.

Howdy Back:

THe name Autolite was in use until 1971. The company and the product became Motorcraft in 1972.

The #4100 4V square bore became a #4300 in a spread bore configuration.
It first appeared in '67 on 390s.

When the name change took place carbs were morfing to be more EPA friendly. The 2100 became the 2150 with variable air bleeds, different choke systems, and other crutches- to name a few.

Hope that helps you.

Adios, David

I guess my real question is if Autolite made such a great carb did any of that technology make it into some of the Motorcraft 4bbls?

From your post it seems the carbs were modified when the Autolite carbs became Motorcraft but is there any info on whether they kept the annular discharge boosters?
