A question for those of you using MSD ignitions

Where did you mount it? I just got an MSD 6A today and judging by the length of the wires, it looks like it wants to be mounted on the passenger's side. I've seen a picture or two of them mounted on the driver's side by the distributor, but i don't know how i would get the battery wires to reach.

i mounted mine on the driver side right above were the windsheild washer pump goes. i ran my battery wire up to the front of the radiator, at the top there was already wires running to the passenger side so i just ran it along with those.

i also have the blaster ss coil and i mounted that right under the msd box

and that was with using the wires as is? no changes needed? I guess i'm overestimating the distances. I didn't actually take it out to the car to check yet, so it doesn't suprise me that i'd be off.

i got it used from a buddy but the only one that i had to make longer was the battery wire cause he hacked it all up. all the others i had to shorten

i just mounted mine in my truck yesterday, the battery cable needed to be extended, added in about a foot and a half of wire

having a few minor issues, made a thread about it in the Lounge

Mine is under the dash where you can't see it, and only the two coil wires (black/orange inside black sheath) and the two pick up wires (purple/green in black sheath) go into the engine compartmet through a grommet on the firewall.

Had to extend large red battery wire as well, that is almost a given.

If you do not like stacking ring terminals on the solenoid post (I HATE that), then run one larger (8 guage or so) wire from the bat side solenoid post to a large terminal stud, (available from custom stereo shops and under the hood of many GM FWD cars) and stack the terminals on it instead. I always do everything I can to eliminate any wires under the hood.

I mounted mine on the drivers side where the windsheild wash bottle is supposed to be. I used #10 wire and butt splices to extend the battery wires to the other side. I ran it in front of the radiator. It was a fairly simple set-up.

thanks everyone. seems like the easiest solution is to put it on the driver's side and just extend the battery wires.

My stock wires just barely reached the battery. I like the driver side for the open access and balance since nothing on the 200 bay is on that side:

The extra blue and pink wire is a 2 stage retard. I got the digital 6+ for the built in dial rev limiter and some other various functions I hope to use eventually, plus i liked the look better.
