Acell TBI

I have not heard anything about the current version but a few years ago I read that it was a total pile of crap that was hard to keep running and the support was non existent. Apparently it was so bad no one understood why a company with a decent rep would even put their name on it. Hopefully they learned their lesson and have something that works now.

I would say its comparable with an advantage of built in self diagnostics. It is probably slightly more user friendly as there is only one software platform that does it all. Megasquirt requires you to properly setup your software and bootloader code in order to communicate and have the proper things in place when you fire up the software. It makes you touch the surface of programming where as this is probably plug and play and setup and go. All the VE and ignition table setups are probably the same to setup - use a dyno or seat of your pants till you get it right. The Megasquirt is MUCH cheaper and I think you learn more about EFI through using Megasquirt.

The only other thing is that it says it can be upgraded to a PRO version. So the standard version has limitations? I'm pretty sure you can go as "pro" as you want with Megasquirt. So thats interesting. The Megasquirt claims more computing power and speed than most modern vehicle control systems, so it does not have very many limitations. The limit is probably up to you.

After talking to their tech support. They are telling me that after 2003= all of their cpu's are running the Pro system. What I liked about it is that you can plug in some engine variables/imputs and it builds you a base line VR table to get you started. Now, this is a nice tool to get started which you can also help you set up the MS tables as well. I was looking at their 4-v throttle bodies more than anything. Right now, only Holley and them offer a 4v throttle body. I like the Acell TBI better ass it lets you choose injector sizes.

Cheers

There are several 4bbl TBI's out there now. Several that use Bosch style multiport injectors so there are lots of options. One even looks 90% like a holley 4160. It has bowl looking covers over the injectors. I dont have time to find links now but they are out there. None are really cheap. Many so expensive that it makes multiport tempting.

From memory look up BBK, retroteck speed
