Some of the prices you guys are getting quoted are downright scary to a tightwad like me!!

Will somthing like this work??

http://store.summitracing.com/default.a ... sum-680110

I like the price of $129.95 :D

It's aluminized, But it can still be mig welded together as needed...right?? I would also upgrade the mufflers (maybe) to hookers or dynamax.

I would attatch it to one of Mikes new pacemaker headers, and I would assume with a couple of extra elbows and a pair of reducers it would fit with no problem??

Careful. Summit used to sell a low price kit that was nothing more than header connectors, mufflers, and some 90 degree bends to exit in front of the wheels.

What you need looks like this:

Since we know you are such a tightwad :) you could just use your parts connections to order tailpipes and intermediate pipes separately. The stockers are 2" and each of the pipes is <$30. Flowmaster makes 2 1/2", and I think there are a couple of places like Cal Mustang that are selling 2 1/4", but those cost a lot more.

If you can't find a p/n for a 65-66 the 68-73 pieces are the same except that the intermediate pipes are 2" longer. You'll have to cut them down anyway.

I checked my local parts stores today (napa, car quest, autozone, auto value) and no one can get the pipes (66-73).

I looked at Sacramento Mustang :D But $295.00 is to much $$

Would somthing like this work?? I found it on ebay from mustangs unlimited.

Thanks for the help!

I know you are a tight wad...but I think we all are at some point.

I looked at the MU kit. Generally a good kit and a good price, but not the one on ebay personally. It comes with 2 cheap Turbo Mufflers. Try their website. The $295 is all pipes, hangers, and flanges, 2 flowmaster 50 series mufflers (usually $90 a piece). I think the 40 Series (2 chamber and louder) is a little bit cheaper.

That appeals to the cheapskate in me as well. You could sell the unused h-pipe for $50-60 bucks. Mufflers you could replace later if you didn't like them.

You'd still need hangers and maye a mod to the brake line.

Dont know exactly what you are running. One of the best setups for a 200 six is a set of Hooker headers or any other that are dual outlets and "Y" them into one larger pipe and have a single exhaust. Its cheep and I have gotten some of my best performance and economy results with a system like this. Of course having a single outlet dosnt scream performance so you might want to put a big wing on the back to compinsate. Or just get off on the fact you just passed a guy with duals.

On my coupe, I orignally had a set of Clifford headers feeding stock 2" V8 duals and Dynomax turbos. I really liked the sound.

When I went to the Crossflow, the headers were Y'd into a single, so we removed the old 2" system, and on the advice of my muffler guy, I installed a 2 1/4" single system with a Flowmaster in hopes of better performance. It was the worst decision I could have made on an exhaust system.

Not only was the overall sound of the single exhaust very poor, the Flowmaster drones badly at multiples of 1500 rpm, making a sound very much like blowing across a large jug. :? I've added a resonator at the tip, but it only attenuates the noise. The drone is there to stay as a result of harmonics in the muffler.

I haven't gotten around to it, but one day the car will revert to true duals with turbo style muffs.

The engine I refered to above was a 200 six in a 69 Mustang dual outlet Hookers Y ed into a passenger side exhaust from a factory Boss 302 and factory boss muffler. I too have used the Flowmasters on two occasions now and will not use them again they sound like c--p. going back to Dynomax plus there flow data is better. I am about to design a exhaust system for a Pantera with about 700 Dinoed HP. These cars have a big problem in that without making a set of boat style heades the biggest collector one can get past the suspension is 2 3/8 OD which wont allow 700 HP to ever get near the trans.

I don't know if thee's any real big difference n power between 2" duals and a 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" single on this engine. The major difference is in sound quality.

Thanks for the help guys!

I just have to make sure I can have them sent to my work instead of home then I'll bid on them :D :D

I personally like Dynomax mufflers myself and I can get a pair of them quite cheap.....My cobbled up exhaust that I have on it now is so embaressing I only posted 1 picture of it and i got laughed at!

You want cheap? I buy used mufflers. I look behind exhaust shops for usable sections. It's amazing what they throw out.

My take on it is like the ultimate "X" pipe if sized properly. Heck a lot of circle track cars run all their pipes togeather and out one side. Duals just look kool they dont necessarly produce more power.
