Adding electric fuel pump - ideas....

Hey all!

I just received my Carter fuel pump in the mail today. I ordered it as I have been having fuel problems with my 38 DGES. Hopefully, it fixes the problem. If it doesn't, at least I have a pump with the correct flow rate and pressure now.

My main question is "Where should I mount this thing?"

It looks like I can mount in an area under the windshield washer bag and that will be fine. My crazy idea is to mount it on the engine where the old mechanical pump is now. The bolt holes line up, but I would only be able to use 2 bolts instead of the three that came with the pump.

Any thoughts?

I have a Holley blue mounted right in front of my gas tank.
You can see the bottom of it here.

I made a bracket so it mounts to the trunk metal and the line goes right above the rear diff. I have a relay powering the pump with a toggle switch so I can turn it off when I want.

I admit, closer to the tank is what I hear as well.

However, I've had one mounted on my frame rail just under my steering box for the last 30k without a single problems or any attention given at all.
