aftermaket ignition

iam curiouse if aftermakret system do help gain extra power and how they work to do it.
as previous i couldent run aftermarket in the speedway class i ran but now ive changed class i can.
all we did before was put the bigest voltage coil with the standerd ford xflow electronic dizzy which had been doctered to have the vacume advance unit removed so it was a mechanical unit to suit the cam i was running.
also what units will run the ford 250 xflow

8) most aftermarket systems have a multi strike capability, meaning the spark lasts for about 20 degrees of crank revolution according to msd. this lights off several flame fronts on the theory that some of them will stay lit and provide a more complete combustion, thus improving the cylinders capability for making power. the increase is usually small, but in racing every little bit helps.

Some provide a much stronger spark to light off mixtures with higher compression ratios and much leaner mixes than could be lit with a standard ignition system.
