I added an 82 Mustang aircleaner on my 76 Maverick, (250 I-6). Man what a challenge. I pulled the motor mounts off the shock towers and milled the slots 1/2" longer then trimmed the flat washer accordingly. The hood, if it rubs isn't noticable. Yes, it's close, but clears. Now you can have ram air as per: http://inlinefever.homestead.com/RamAir.html,. These aircleaners are sized for 14X3 inch filters. K/N has a filter for ~$40.00.
My mods include a Holley 350cfm, direct mount on log, 1/2" mount. If the 72-73 250 motor mounts are shorter as I have read, that will be perfect for the 76 Mav.

Your link got geh-farbled by punctuation. Try this one, folks.

1980 Head Test Project (2 1Bbl Carter YF's).

The well-illustrated page linked has cool and helpful info on how to mill an intake log and adapt it for use with several differant carb setups using aluminum adapter plates.

  • ** 2 Carter YF 1 Bbl carbs used originally on a Ford 250 ci six cylinder
    ** a single Carter YF off a 300 ci 6 cylinder.
    ** a Holley 500 cfm 2 bbl

It also has some info on:

  • ** building "ram-air" intakes using several different air cleaner housings
** switching from throttle linkage to a throttle cable

This page is well worth bookmarking.

:)

Thanks shmoozo,
Sorry for the bad address. The article about the Ram Air is what I was pointing out.

I think if you remove the punctuation (.,) it should work
