Lets take a 67 coupe(65-70 for that matter)-both C4 automatics and stick shift 6cylinders--what parts/equipement regardless of brand affliation would allow us to come up with the best combination of fuel economy, performance, and reliablity as it pertains to a daily driver.

your going to have to nail down a goal more than that.
economy and relailablity would be stock. performance would be anything but stock.

cost ranges, bolt ons, major part replacements, rebuilds, efi, oz or classic inline stuff...

headers, oz or mikes head, a mild cam, solid rebuild and 2 barrel with intake, mild performace (relatively) and decent economy (relatively)

other than that, what EXACTLY are you looking for show, go, or keeping the money in the wallet?

Yep, that's going to be defferent for most people here on the board, my 68 Mustang has been my daily driver for the past five years, I drive to work five days a week and fill gas about every two weeks. Yes I don't put alot of miles on the car but it is driven everyday to work! I only put about 5,000 miles a year on the Mustang. It smokes them in first and gets a little side ways in second but is a joy to drive.

Over all I meant that among the consensous of members here

1.which engine would be the best ?
or engine mods if sticking with the stock powerplant
2.which trans?
3.rear end?
4.brakes?
5.etc

(example--use inline 6 from BMW,pontiac trans, and ford 9 inch rear end)

Things of this nature --like we were designing it to be the best all around daily driver form the ground of up that has the best balance power, economy and reliabilty.

1) pretend we are the automanufacturer and can spend what ever $$$$$ we want

2)the everyday man--meaning that we keep the cost down when we can(junkyard swap or ???by from a well knownvendor when we do have the cash.Lets say the range runs from $1000 or under ,then $5000 or under ,and then $10000 and under.

Believe me if someone came upto me tomorrow and said heres a bone stock straight 6 ,C4 auto,1967 coupe with air--id be a very happy camper.
Then theres the other side that wants to see "what if????" and see if theres a way to come up with something better.
