Can you get a reusable rubber jobbie, or is one stuck with the thin fibre type?

Cheers, Adam.

ADDO, just got off the phone from the supplier the news is all bad,it looks
like they have stopped making this gasket they dont even price it any longer.but all is not lost ,i think you can buy rubberized cork sheet from the gasket suppliers and have an interesting arts and crafts afternoon and
make your own if your keen enough .

cheers dave 67xr6

Addo.
Im presuming your talking about the rocker cover cover when u say "alloy valve cover".
i just got of the phone from Auto-One (are the AUS wide?) , and they stock:
-a regular cork gasket- rrp $11
-They also have a re-usable rubber gasket- rrp $40

hope this helps mate

-Mick

I had a think about this. Remembering back to my EFI rockercover gasket installation, I didnt use a gasket. Rather, I ran a bead of Loctite around the clean mating surfaces. No leaks, and the crankcase held good vacuum

Adam: Is this for a 200/250 valve cover? If so I can send you over a rubber gasket that I have sitting here. Let me know.

This is for a crossflow, Marco. The alloy cover has a thicker flange with no notches to secure a cork gasket. I've ordered something from Rare Spares that sounds like it might be the goods ($30-odd); if it is, I'll post the part number and we can all enjoy. Since it's going O/S, a rubber one will be easier to ship (scrunched up :) ).

Regards, Adam.

Are you talking EFI or Carb rocker cover? Is there a subtle difference?
I replaced my r/c gasket today with a cork gasket, there was small inserts in the r/c that u allows you to latch these little notches from the cork gasket over..
*it was a carby r/c.

It's the alloy EFI cover, but on a carbed XE crossflow. I bought it really cheap (virtue of buying lotsa gear at once) with the alloy oil cap. Cleaned the crud off inside with paint stripper and posted it, with a full rebuild gasket kit for a carby motor.

Our man checked the cork gasket, and it wouldn't really do the job, so I picked up a factory style thin fibre one, but have kept looking around.

I hope to sight the rubber one tomorrow. Got a lot on this week, in all directions.

Adam.

Adam,
Factory style thin one?????????
The EFI engines only glued the rocker cover on with a silicone sealer.
The after market industry decided that these engines required a gasket.
If you/your customer stick it on it will seal OK.
Noel.
