angle of the tranny out put

I got the 250 put in and the C4 bolted up in the 61 Comet.
Next we have to alter the tranny mount. I can use the stock cross support (with a little fabb'ing), but the angle that it shoots back to the rear, I'm unsure of.

The way the car is sitting on jack stands, is not the way it's going to sit when on all 4's.

Last time I did an engine swap of this nature, I put a level on the carb to make sure the engine would be level at it's driving stance. Then fabb'ed up a cross support.
For this install, should I pay attention to the carb being somewhat level, or have the tranny out put aim straight at the rear end? and then make up for any pinion angles with shims?

I put 3" lowering blocks, so the rearend is tucked under there quite a bit.

Standard dip of the engine in the stock chassis is 3 degrees 20 minutes to 4 degrees 20 minutes. That's if the springs havent sagged and you've not got Aunty Jane in the trunk.

Easy way to check is the grab any stock 144 to 250 head, and place it on a level floor, bench or table, and measure the angle the carb mounting makes with the horizontal with a smart level. Results are nearly always -negative 3.5 degrees. 3.33 when unleaden, 4.33 when loaded.

All you have to do is check Rickwrenches site. A simple 1.5 or 3 degree wedge will correct any 250/C4 combo, because ultimately, there is well over a degree of pitch in from unleade to laden anyway.
