annoying wobble

hey guys
i've put on some 14" bullet hole rims on my 66 mustang coupe 200 ci and the front rims wobble like they're off balance or something, even to the point where it stress fractures the rim and splits it or bores out the lug nut holes. I've found that adding washers as spacers on the lugs before putting on the rim helps, but hardly cures the problem. Does anybody else have this problem? Or can you recommend a rim that doesnt do this since i'm really tired of replacing rims in teh front. Oh, the ones in the back are completely smooth. I really appreciate the help!!

I had the same problem with my old rims. They were the "universal" fit kind of rims. When I put my American Racing Outlaw II rims on, it was like night and day. It may just be your rims.

Some brake drums have balance weights welded on that interfere with some rims. Take a look and see if this might be your problem. If so, remove the ewights and have the wheels balanced on the car.

8) I agree.check for weights on the brake drums. I had a 69 Fairlane I put Cragar S/S wheels on and the weights interffered with them seating flush. A hammer and a cold chisel took care of the weights.
