Anybody here tried this stuff? I never heard of it, and am generally skeptical about additives, but a racer on another site swears by this one. The website is uninformative.

Never heard of it, and there's no info on their website. (Which has several spelling errors to boot!) Personally, I'd stay away from it.

Remember how BlueCorral lost in a $20M lawsuit to FTC?

according to max power magazine, march 1998, they may not advertize their oil treatment slik50 any longer with claims about reduced engine wear, increased fuel economy and lower operating temperatures, as "(...) the Federal Commission found the company's claims of increased performance and reduced wear were unsubstantiated (...)".

Similar lawsuits have been filed against z-max, Dura Lube, STP, Motor-Up and others.

Wow, I'd not heard that, Simon. Is this recent news?

I'd understood that about 25 years ago, when Slick 50 was sold by a "direct sales" (pyramid?) scheme, that the company had managed to get FAA approval for use of Slick 50 in aircraft. The company owner, a Texan named Menafee who had already made a pile with a previous direct sales venture ("Swipe" cleaning products, as I recall) seemed to have very good political connections. The FAA doesn't ordinarily approve products without considerable testing, so maybe this was part of the waves of hype coming out of Slick 50 at that time.

It was recent news in '98. The FAA testing might just have been durability testing to see if it did harm. They might not have tested for horsepower gains.
