AOD tranny for mustang 200

Was reading a few threads and started thinking. I have a 255 V-8 and a AOD tranny out of a 82 Merc ZR-7. The 255 is a wimppy version of the 302. Was thinking about putting that in place of the 200 but stoped myself. Now I am thinking about the AOD tranny mated to the 200. Has anyone out there tried a V-8 tranny or are the bolt patterns just that too far off?
thanks for any info.

8) if you have the latest version of the 200, then the aod can be adapted easily, otherwise you will have to build an adaptor to not only the bellhousing, but spacers for the flexplate so it will bolt up to the torque converter without pulling the converter out of the tranny. you will also need to figure out how to bolt the starter up so it will engauge the ring gear.

a better plan would be to adapt a T5 if you want an overdrive trans.

you will need a "big bell" 200 block from the 80's. Not hard to find really.
Most people yanked them out and put in 302's so they are out there.
