Gotta give respect to a team that basically has the '70s in the hat.. I'm assuming those year flaglets are racing trophys of some sort

In the pic with the stack of heads, on the far right, what is the alloy device? as far as I can make its not a head...

Odd...in the 3rd pic the car in the shop looks to be a Merkur XR4ti body with a homebuitl nose. I wasnt aware a I6 would even fit in one of those.

And that rack of cams? Ill create a diversion, one grab an armload of cams, the other run interference..we meet down the street. :)

In South Africa where my natural father lives, Sierra XR8's have 5.0 Mustang GT's as a factory engine. They also had 3.0 liter Essex V6's from the GB Capri 3000S and GT...this was still the XR4i . Both engines weigh over 432 lbs (Essex) and the 5.0 4v carby engine was about 456 pounds ready to run. An I6 of the taller deck 188/221 variety would be about 430 pounds or so.

And remember, Aussie Cortinas, the forerunner to the Sierra/Merkur, ran the much taller and heavier US-style 250 style block in a tiny little English/German body.

Heres some Aussie style TC Cortina Six, South Africa XR4i sixes and XR8's

I'm pretty sure they just massaged the firewall quite hard and also slightly modded the radiator support panel. Getting the sixes into the Cortinas was a typical Aussie feat. The bonnet (sorry, hood :P ) was six-specific, too.

Cheers, Adam.

Dude, we know what a bonnet is. It's a hat for a girl...!
Well, then. Why are you so back-to-front on "f*nny"? This is a perennial laugh for Aussies.

Adam.

better chim in as I have a xr4ti. they have this goofy false firewall setup above the the tranny. so it makes it easy to notch the firewall for the head. since mine has a dead engine I was thinking of a crossflow or OHC aussie engine for it. liking the nose on that car. hmm maybe I should swap in my 170/2.77 combo and make it a column shift?

Ive got a 2V 250 in a manual 1976 TD Cortina. it only had a two litre four auto in it about 18 months ago when I bought it and my interest in Ford sixes started.
Cortinas dont usually come with 2V and as a result the inlet manifold hit the brake booster which was cut down by 45 mm to stop this.
The torque from a six can rip the rear control arms right out of the Cortina and total the car so I had those strengthened up.
I bought a 351 Cleveland recently to put in it but later thought it was a bit of overkill and sold it. Lots of dollars would be involved for something that would handle very badly. My mate has plans to put a BOSS 302 in his.
