There are no great EAs,
Just people who havent realized how bad thier car is yet!
Noel.
Who might have to duck for cover.

Noel.

ay you! Like dat. Doobie a clever dik

am I utter scum trash now I put an EA on the web?

Ah well, at least we know the stressed alloy sump can be allowed for. That oughta mean an XF can take an AU or even a BA engine. Smoking some wild hybrids in da Aussie house?

No way dood!
Yoo be dah mahn!!
Slippin" inna Ay You inta a EE YA wood fix ayot ob dah problems and wood be phat man!
All it wood need iz dah Four inch tail pipe an it wood be Phat Man!!!!

Hey Backlash, this is the exhast system for a Killer EA. Shove it in a Falcon GL, place an AU or BA 4.0 in it, and go stalkin' Eights. The more I spend time with you Aussies, the more I understand.....

  :rolflmao: :rolflmao:

Never tried it myself, how much recoil does it have? I don't have an EA, so have never needed one. But Will it remove Ricer Rash sustained from visits to K-Mart?

haha. All 137kW worth of recoil, I'll assure you of that :D

lol. I wouldnt call it a rash really.. more like an itch - something that'll be behind you in a matter of seconds   :P

Never owned an EA? C'mon man, you know you want one.. Dont deny that you'll like it!! The Cam Over Head motor is calling....

Disco,
Thats not over head cam calling.
It is a life of constant fiddling to keep going!!!!
But if you own an EA and it doesnt give problems dont let my bias cause any doubts!!!!
A reliable car, any make or model is a good thing to have.
Noel.

what were the actual problems with the EA's?
as far as i know it was only the engine and computers. anyone know of anymore?

Disco chronicled them a while back. My notes are Steering columns, archaic transmissions..the 3-spd auto was a sad slap for drivers who loved the cars cool looks , sand in the alloy head castings, rust, awfull suspension settings (Kiwi Police officers found them unstable at speed). Just piddly detailing things that all get fixed when you hot the up with better bits from later cars. In crashes, they were not that strong. The EB II's were much better strength wise.

I love the look of EA's. My favorite was the EA 351 GT, the Jack Roush modified V8 EA which starred in Wheels. That was a car with T3 Falcon 5.6 performance 10 years before its time. Jac Nasser and David Flint should have been castrated for not putting that little number on the road to defend the EA 26's family honour. There was a Turbo version too, but it never saw the light of day, as resources got pulled out for the Mercury/Ford Capri FWD developement program. Natch.

What XE said.

lol. Also powersteering pumps that liked to explode, dumping a load of ATF into the altinator. And the usual teething problems with water getting into places it shouldn't..

Oh yeah, there was someone going by the name of Brock who released turbo EAs. Dont know the exact details of it, but apparently it hammered pretty well..

I'll put it this way, Jack. My neighbour had a dual-fuel one that blew a head gasket. He pushed it into the street, where it sat for six months, unmolested. Then, they resurfaced the road, around the car! When the local gov't inspector came to check the road surface, he made the contractors move the car and fill in the area. So, it got pushed around the corner into my street.

That street came up for retarring a few months later, and the car got pushed again, into another side street. It sat there until someone stole the plates. I guess after that point, the council decided it was abandoned, and collected it. Still rust free and undented.

Meantime, a GM "Commodore" had been dumped nearby, and was promptly re-stolen!

I would pay $50 for an EA Falcon, and $500 tops for the Fairmont Ghia. They're auction prices. Do you want some OHC motors?

Adam.

oh come on!

Just because Ford got cold feet just about the time the VN was to be released, doesnt make it a total heap.. Just a few maintainance issues with dodgy mechanics and owners, and things that usually need to get fixed along the way.

I know of someone who paid $3000 for an EA, with an ED XR6 motor, CFI and the 3-speed auto. Absolutely flogs along, and its a real joy to drive. I dont know if its the one gem out there, but my impression of EAs is that they aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

But, for a few hundred more, one can get an EBII, with the 4.0 and 4 speed auto. throw a set of 3.73s or 4.11s in the rear, and it'll flog along! (33% overdrive)

edit: they mustve been pretty stupid thieves to steal an already stolen commodore!

I wasn't saying they're bad, just unpopular. And as such, worthless. You've seen how I can cream the market with a '71 Fairmont - 500% profit. Can't do that with an EA. As for ugly ducklings - ever heard of Swan Lake?

The Commy was a VK 202 carby. If it had lingered longer, I would have picked it up. There's always $400 in them.

Adam.
