I stumbled across an add for Aussie muscle parts in the NMRA racing pages magazine. Called them up, and they do import some I6 parts. No XFlow or complete motors, though. They're in Long Beach, CA. Anyone on the forum have any experience with them? Good? Bad? Ugly? I can't recall the name, but I doubt there's more than one of them in the Long Beach area.

There was also an e-mail addy that I'll send check out to see if they can do requests (like XFlow parts or motors). The guy I talked to on the phone wasn't all that helpful on the topic. But they do sell bare 250-2V heads, cleaned and magna fluxed. I think they sell the associated valves and such as well. I''l try to find out more tonight after work.

Aussie Muscle is Mike Fielder.

The shop you called is in Long Beach it's run by a lady named Rocky, super nice, A+ person. I believe Mr. Fielder sells his wares out of Rocky's shop or somethig like that. When you call ask for her she's tops, she'll hook you up with the proper info. I think it's the same spot that another member bought his 2V from.

I can put you in touch with where Mike buys his stuff... It's in Melbourne. but they're out of 2V's.

Are you interested in a crossflow? I am looking to make (fill) up a crate of odds and ends - no screaming hurry. This is not to compete with the regulars, just the stuff that's too much like small change for them. But there's be room for a motor and bell, most likely.

Depends on the cost. I'm assuming that the Crossflow will take different headers than a US motor (yes/no?). I know cam is different, and assume that it would have to be imported with a motor. Of course, the EFI cam sounds like it's good enough, based previous postings,

Rocker arms and pushrods are available here. I'm considering a set of Crower stud-mount rockers, since they were recommended by a guy I know who's advice I consider quite reliable.

I'm trying to avoid the incidentals if I go ahead with the Xflow motor swap idea. I'd want to get everything I needed in one shot. I can make a reasonable parts list from the Crossflow Chronicles. Any US stuff that can be adapted to work probably will, in the interest of cost. Parts like a bearing set would have to be imported. That makes it more difficult, since there's no way to know if the crank will need to be ground or not.

Long question short- any guesstimates on prices (US dollars) to acquire and ship a Xflow motor and it's various other required bits?

Prices for the parts such as bearings, gaskets, etc, are comparable to US prices. Perhaps a bit lower depending on the exchange rate. Shipping varies, but it cost me $350, plus crating, plus $150 in various agents fees to get a 1200 lb crate wth two engines and parts to Orlando from Perth. shipping charges for Small items that can go by UPS or FedEx are available on the web.

I had to order a set of undersize bearings for one engine, but JD was able to get those to me very quickly by FedEx. I would order more than one full gasket set per engne and additional intake and exhaust sets.

BTW, the charges for ocean freight are by measurement ton, not by straight weight. The cost to move my crate would have been about the same had it weighed 200 lbs or 2000 lbs since it occupied a set amount of room in the container. Put another way, it costs the same to move a 40ft container of feathers as it does to move a 40ft container of lead shot.

Do not under any circumstance use the US Postal Service for shipment of anything to Oz. I've lost one package completely and another made a major circuit of Canada before being returned to me for no reason.
