Autolite distributor gear

Anyone know if an autolite DZ361 distributor gear will fit a ford 223. It is listed as 12 teeth but I can only find that it fits the 262.
 
The 223 camshaft is chain drive, the 262 is gear drive which means the camshaft rotates in the opposite direction. I believe that means the distributor gear must be different in order to make the distributor rotate correctly. I was unable to find Ford part numbers to confirm this but any aftermarket listings I did find list a gear for either a 215/223 or a 262 but never one that fits all three. Hopefully another contributor will come along with more definitive information.
