Been gone for a while, I'M BACK... and into the Intake! PICS

If the surfaces are flat you could seal the intake with RTV only, but a gasket would afford an extra measure of tolerance.

Check out AzCoupe's new ROL gaskets for the exhaust. Those should do the trick by eliminating the thin spot above the flange. BTW, those exhaust flanges get pretty hot. Other than hi temp paint, not much will survive there.

I solved my header gasket problems by making my own copper gaskets. I purchased copper sheets and cut them out. Sealed them with Ultra Copper sealant and haven't had a problem since.
You should first anneal (heat up) the copper sheet to make it more malleable.

Hey there guys...

Problem solved.

I already got two sets of gaskets from Azcoupe... and intalled a set this time.
The header gasket I used Ultra Copper on, and the Intake I used a very light layer of the Hylomar sealant, both are working great.

I took it out for a spin tonight, and all I can say is I am getting closer to having it running the way I want it to...

sounds better, was really loud, and now very obvious that it was leaking.
the intake is sealed up nicely, finding those spots where the gsaket hit the header flange was critical to getting a seal, I had to trim them in three spots, the mainfold itself was not hitting anything, but the gaskets were.

The added length of material on Mike's gaskets helps for a better seal where I had the leak... I put a nice highway run on there tonight, I will re-torque the headers bolts in the morning...

but it runs a lot smoother, has better vacume, I am running at 16 inches at idle, and that has dropped down to 800... running smooth, now I have to clean the deposits out of the engine, and get the distributor and carb dyno'ed...

thanks for the help...

Mustang196t8 - they are Ford Six Performance, jet-coated from Mike... love them... very nice quality...
