I just bought some Jet Coated Headers from FSP. I was wondering if I shoudl buy a "Y" or not, and what are so called "best" mufflers. All input is appreciated. Thanks, guys.

according to Mike's site, unless you are running a real high performance motor, then you don't really need duals, so i'd say go with the Y-pipe

as for best mufflers... wooooo boy did you open up a can o worms with that one
everyone has their opinion on that one, it all depends on who you ask

No, no drag car here. I figured I'd be getting the Y pipe. Thanks for the input. BTW...What's Mike's ALIAS?

I'm full of hard questions, just wait till I "try" to put it on, LOL. Thanks though.

Several people recommended the Borla ProXS mufflers. I bought them and they sound great with Mike's header. The header and exhaust really gave my engine a boost.

Thats not the fun part, the fun part is removing your old exhaust manifold. It's a bitch.

It's gonna be one big fun party. But then ya get to drive it later. What do you guys think of open headers?

i think they are loud and annoying for long periods, running them long enough to get across the parking lot, or some other short period is good, but much more than that and i get a headache

It won't ruin the header. You will probably have to drive to an exhaust shop with an open header if you don't have the means to install it yourself.

Where is the most reliable cheapest place to pick a pair of the Borla proXS mufflers?

i've talked to a few mechanics who say running an open header can actually cause a lot of damage to your engine. they told me specifically it would fry the valves extremely quickly... i can tell you first hand having driven my 200 with the open header to the exhaust shop... not only is there no power due to the lack of backpressure, but a six cylinder really does not have that throaty sound i think your expecting. its more high pitched and winey. my advice if you want the v8 sound...dual exhaust with either the borlas, or 40 series flowmasters.

P.S.
the cheapest borlas i've seen are from a private dealer on E-Bay...cant for the life of me remember his name

I drive my Mustang to school on the nice days. Everybody that asked about my car thought I had a v8. Go with the Borla ProXS mufflers.

Here

I had Borla ProXS's on my stang. I got more compliments about the sound than anything else. Everyone thought I had a v8 under the hood :D .

Awesome. Did you have the 2.25in? Did you also have true dual exhaust or the y pipe and and dual outlet headers?

Yep 2.25's. I bought them from the guy in the link provided above. No Y pipe.
