BOV or Relief valve

Howdy,
Are a relief valve and a blow off valve the same, such as in the GReddy brand. One is $89.00 and then they jump to about $200.00, just trying to pinch the funds at the last. Thanks fellers.

BOV will release the pressure when the throttle closes so the turbo doesn't get damaged

Relief valve just pops when certian psi is reached.

I bought an "el cheapo" chinese BOV on ebay, it is working very well and has a nice sound. You can see it in my thread "another turbo 200 nears completion"

for a bov i would recommend a greddy type-s. they are in very well standing in the import world. plus they are closed loop so they will be smoother than an open loop would. a nice noise but nothing you can hear from a block away. GL on your search.

Mine looks like the one Will and Kelly are using in the picture below, but has two horns instead of one. The sound is awesome!

That only applies to EFI cars with a MAF sensor.

All others....Let 'er BLOW!!

ah i see, then nvm. only advantage to using the type-s is a more mild sounding BOV. if you want to wake up neighboors go with an open loop.

Ya we're using the TurboXS RFL (Really Frigin' Loud! )
It's great! Floor it, smoke a 5.0, then lift and scare the Bejesus out of people at the bus stop! :D

Ive heard the HKS BOVs are good accurate ones as well. They are actuated off of a reference applied to a diaphragm, not the pressure applied to the valve itself.

The BOV line does go to the manifold side of vacuum on the engine? I know it does just wanted to ask to make sure.
