Tried to badger X, but he was ignoring me on the dog 'n' bone today. :P

What is the recommended solution to the difference in crownwheel bolt sizings (shank Ø) between my 4P locking centre and the original Centura 2P open? It's about 1/16".

Also, what bearings do I use that fit in the Centura caps, but over the 4P housing ends? The ID is appreciably larger. What are they likely to cost (just curious)?

Anyone got favourite bearing brands, or ones to avoid?

Is regular gear oil OK for assembling the centre?

I was too. Gee, I can be an arrogant b'stard.

The phone was turned off, haven't charged it since two weeks ago. I was busy watching my mate Paul set up the struts in his Pontiac Drag car.


Now, lets see...I've got a 2 pinion TE Cortina 3.7, a two pinion XF Falcon 3.23, and the stock 2.92:1 2 pinion XC Falcon one. The XF and TE have a crush bearing, all the others are shanked (steeped).

My neighbour has a Spanish olive (snot Green) Centra, but I'm not messing with it!
