Let me start by saying I'm a newb...
I rescued my dad's all original stock 66 coupe (79,000 orig miles) from a slow death from neglect. It hadn't been started since 1988.
I rebuilt the 200 engine all stock. Had it running sweet.
Then a few months ago, I discovered this board....
I added DSII (outstanding sticky Joe, couldn't have attempted it otherwise), H/W 5200, an E0 head and a CSC-264-10-DHS. I'm very happy with the upgrades. I know I need headers to take full advantage. They're on the list.
My question is: If I retard (edit...read as "advance"
) the cam 4 degrees, will I need an other than stock converter with my stock C4? I am I correct in thinking that the higher stall converter places less or no demand on the engine at idle RPM?
The engine runs very smooth in P, now. When warmed up is pretty smooth in D. But, it's rough, struggles and stalls initially before warmed up fully when first put in gear. Is this all related to the converter?
I guess increasing the idle a little would help, but I don't mind letting her warm up for a minute before I go anywhere.
