Carb. linkage fabrication in progress - a few ?'s

Hi,

I have been attempting to fabricate a working linkage for the 2bbl carburetor upgrade in my Mustang ('68 200ci I6). I am using the same design that is used in this picture...except that I need to make an "L" shaped bracket because my pushrod is facing towards the front of the car, while the pushrod in the picture is facing the shock tower. The "L" shape is not working. The bracket will interfere with the upward motion of the pushrod. Does anyone
have an extra pushrod like the one in the picture? If you do not need it I can pay you a few dollars plus shipping. On my old 1bbl carb. the linkage was at the rear of the carburetor (facing the firewall) so that is why my pushrod is facing the front of the car. I cannot figure a way to fabricate a working linkage using this pushrod.

Thanks,

What kind of carb? I recently put in a Holley 5200 and used a combination of the original linkage rod and a cable. I could not find a practical way to create a forward motion on the carburetor throttle lever without using a cable.

I would seriously consider going to a cable...it's really easy in the early mustangs.

Just find a V-8 throttle rod, get some Angle Aluminum, and a Lokar (or similiar) cable throttle. This is what I ended up with. It just allows you do to just about any carb you can ever want:

It's super easy...and looks pretty stock

Thanks for the responses. My girlfriend's father is going to come over Wednesday and we are going to see if we can get the linkage to work. If not, I will consider going to a cable setup.

Thanks
