carb setup

I have a few question regarding people who have the 2 bbl setup. I like buying new stuff (been waiting for new 1100 way too long) but how reliable are those rebuild carbs like the one from stovebolt. What types of air filter are you guys running on 2 bbl. I have read that the clifford adapter is the best option besides a direct mount but what about the one from stovebolt or classic inline? I just want the car running it has been sitting since june 08 due to a crappy carb and the carb i order has not came in yet since that time. 170, dsII. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked out the newest adaptors from Classicinlines? They look really neat and probably would be better than the Clifford units, IMHO. As far as air cleaners, I am running a Spectre unit part# 4770. You can get it from Summit or Checker Auto as far as I know. Here is the link to it on Summit so you can see it.

The Summit item does not come with a wing nut, which seems odd, but if you find it in local parts stores it will.

when did you order the 1100 from and who? i ordered from pony carbs and it came in 2 weeks from date...

are you thinking about direct mounting or 2bbl adaptor? because i think hood clearence comes into play...

Yeah the the adapter from classicinline is nice and thanks for the link it gave me a good idea about the filter.
I want to use an adapter because i don't want to "mess around" with the original engine just in case.
I order the carb from mustang unlimited and usually i get all my order in 3 days with standard shipping. but they said that the supplier change location, then they had a recall on the float bowls. I placed the order june so i am giving up on the carb

I asked about Stovebolt a few weeks ago when I decided to direct mount a HW 5200 on my head. I can't personally vouch for how well the carb works yet because I'm waiting on pushrods before my engine is complete. I will say, I ordered the carb and it arrived the very next day. (I'm in Ohio)
