Hey all,

I have a 62 Falcon with a stock 144 have been having carb issues since nabbing a rebuilt 1909 from a local parts store. They won't take it back, and I am completely fed up with getting a replacement (I've been through 3). I have been reading on here about carb swaps you can do which require little to no modification, and I was wondering about one in particular. Can I successfully swap an Autolite 1100 for the original Holley 1909 without changing my stock setup much? Will it bolt to my intake, and will I have to change location of fuel inlet and vacuum lines? Can someone out there please HELP??!! Some links with info or some pictures of an Autolite 1100 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What kind of carb problems are you having, exactly? I run three 1909s on my 3x1 setup, and have found the 1909 to be about the most basic carb out there. If you can explain what its doing, maybe we can help save you the cost of another carb...

Well, for one, it leaks some out of the fuel inlet, which I ended up solving with some high temp silicone around the brass nipple. Second, it sometimes will leak from the throttle linkage. Third, it has a hesitation when quickly accelerating from idle...it almost is like I press the gas twice instead of once. I can't get rid of it no matter how I tune it, how I set the points, or tune the rest of the ignition system. I have been so frustratred with it that i'm just ready to swap it out...but if you have some suggestions, any will be welcome!

The 1100 Autolite should be a bolt on replacement. You may have to reroute the choke stove and the advance lines, but other than that, no other modification is needed.
