Carbs for Newbs

I'm looking to switch to a 2brl carb soon, probably this spring or summer. My 1brl runs decently but I want a little more power and I think a 2brl would compliment my dual exhaust and headers nicely.

Thing is, I'm a newb. How mechanically inclined must I be to pull this off? I know my way around an engine but have never done anything to a carb before. I've basically self-taught myself everything I know. Unfortunately there are no mechanics in my family...

Is there any place I can get detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to do this or am I screwed? Any help would be appreciated.

I got a lot of info and ideas from this site http://www.geocities.com/mustang_man_1966/ another suggestion I have is to order Falcon Six Performance hand book, it has alot of suggestions tips on how to get more power out of these lil sixes.

I think if I had a stang I'd go for a triple carb offy setup. Retro cool. 8) And performance oriented for the six.
But you have to decide if you want/need to mill the log intake for a direct mount, or use a bolt on adapter with a two barrel
You probably won't find a better place for the information than right here.

I think there is no way to beat a direct mount 2bbl. I am running a cliffy funnel and it feels mostly the same as it did with the 1bbl on it (ran both a 5200 and 350 holley on it)

my vote goes for having a head built for a direct mount and just swapping that on (head swap is pretty easy to do in one afternoon)

I may get a lot of grief for this, but my "cliffy funnel" setup performs great. Here's a link to my carb setup using Clifford adapter and mounting plate. The pics show a Holley 350cfm, but I am now using a Holley 500cfm. Check out the second link to see the performance improvements as I made changes. What you don't see in my photos is that both the adapter and intake hole on the log have been hogged out to enlarge the opening almost 50%. You don't have to direct mount the carb for good performance.

That's my two cents worth.
