after reading some blogs and posts....I am interested in maybe trying a Carter YF..

Just how tall is this thing? In comparison to an 1101? does it require any special adaptor? does it use the water hose adaptor like the 65/66 model 1100's?

There are several types.

1) manufactured by Carter for Ford cast into bowl
2) cast Carter YF

I have both types and the first one above has a 1 1/2" bore
The second one has a 1 3/4" bore

The spacer plates used do not have the water inlet/outlet on both types I have.
Both spacer plates have PCV ports.

They are taller than the 1101

Bolt spacing is a little wider starting around 69 but I have seen slotted spacers that botl to earlier manifolds

On the second one (1.75") do you know what yr or model it came from? Same for the spacer?
Are you interested in selling them? (I sorta want to do a mockup...for fitment..so if they are free..can you let me borrow them?)
I would pay all shipping and put some cash in the envelope for your trouble?

Have you made a decision regarding performance vs the 1101?

On the right is an OEM '71 Maverick 170 YF. On the left is an undetermined Ebay YF. They are on the tall side, very stable runner, I used for initial engine fire-up with known-good running carb. They are generally higher CFM in stock jetting than earliers like 1100's.

A "late model" carb with very short stature is the RBS, with the teapot bowl offset:

The OEM very-recessed air cleaner from Maverick YF setup works great for other applications too.

Wow...thanks for the pics......I hope to have time to hit the JY this weekend...I will be looking for the very item...a Carter YF....hope there are still some 1bbl Ford sixes in the mix...probably get a cable throttle too!

Darn...it's rainy..so it will be muddy...but WTH...I will take my adaptor or at least my gaskets with me...

Which one is the closest to the 1.75 manifold bolt pattern of the 1101..
