CCing a 223 cylinder head - 2nd question

I don't know (would need to CC one like you have) it would be different by the year groups, as they will have different size chambers and or different pistons. For performance use I would want to start with at least a 1957 or later head casting these have the biggest ports and valves. The 1958 'A' code engine is rated at 8.6:1 and 145 HP I would suspect that it has the smallest chamber have been looking for one and a 262 truck short block to build a race motor with for a long awhile now.

I'm using a 1962 head and going with a mild cam grind and Clifford manifolds with a Weber 2 barrel. We increased the valves to 194 intake and 150 exhaust (CHEV 350 valves actually). CCing the head should help the breathing qualities of the little motor....its a work in progress...

Sounds like a good plan the 62 is a good head to use the chamber might be a little bigger as the C.R. was dropped again in the last years of the 223. Not sure if it was due to the head chamber size or the pistons used many times it was just done with the pin height of the pistons. What piston and deck height are you using are you looking to go to 9.00 to 1 or more on compression ratio?
