CI header shipping?

I've ordered a CI stainless dual out header package, and I am very excited to get it on. I put the engine back together today after having the head machined and the exhaust manifold cut off (see my other thread).
How long does it usually take for the header to ship? I'm ready to drive the car to the shop for exhaust!!!!
Another question: How bad would it be to start the engine with no header at all? Pretty loud I"m sure, but should I do it?

I was always told not to do it because since there is no area for the exhaust to collect and keep the valves warm so when the cooler outside air contacts them it can bend the valves.
