Hello All

I like to know if anybody have pictures or video about how cleaning a cylinder head, porting and pulish.

I know the intake cant be porting, but all exhaust can be porting and polish.

I have one question: Is fine if I clean the entire cylinder head by sandblasting? I have the head whitout spring, valves. just the head, but if have to much carbon.

Thanks all, and sorry for my English.

I'd recommend that you NOT sandblast any of the mating surfaces; head to block surface, exhaust manifold to head, water flanges to head. Or any other that I'm not thinking of right now. Tape them off with with duct tape and avoid those areas with the blasting.

The intake ports can be cleaned up from the valve side and the valve pockets smoothed, especially the transition from machined to as cast. Make sure you do not mess up the valve seat area.

Be sure to spend some time polishing the combustion chambers.

For pictures of head in various states, do a search on this forum.

No, I do not speak Spanish. I do not know of a more affordable porting kit. I made mine up by starting with a small Dremel grinder and an assortment of stones. I've since gone to a larger hand held grinder. My advice to you for your first time at porting is to go slow.

Let us know how the sand blasting went.

8) when cleaning cylinder heads, i dont recommend sandblasting at all. there are a large number of grease removers on the market that do a good job of softening grease and carbon deposits so that you can wash them away. the problem with sandblasting is that the media gets everywhere and the head needs to be thoroughly cleaned to remove the sand, and even then you will miss particles that will come back and haunt your rebuild.

I will not do the clean by sand blasting, cause your explication, like say rbohm, I will find a de-grease to clean all carbon.

the problem it I dont know exacly what product to use., but I will find something.

Thanks

Household spray on oven cleaners will cut grease on parts. Several applications of the spray on oven cleaner may be needed.... wash off with water

Use a wire wheel and cup brush on your Dremel.
