Hi, I just got back to light cleanup grinding and polishing on my 200 replacement head. I just reread Head Port Work from BCOWANWHEELS on Sat April 2, 2016. I'm also following the Falcon handbook advice. Now I'm wondering if I should grind out the small bump in each exhaust port. It looks like a little finger tip on top where the bowl changes into the passage to the manifold. Is it worth it to take them out and does it weaken the head? They seem to be on a casting line. Thanks for the help.

Yup. I think you should remove the casting buttons.

While you are playing... if the intake valve are out of the head, stick your finger into the port to the casting line. I have seen some heads with almost flashing line and others with nearly 1/4" high.

Dennis,

Would it be appropriate to replace the CI listing for the P. Handbook with a VintageInlines cite?
I see Matt has copies available…
Not sure if folks following that CI one would get anything mailed out (likw the on-line CI 'store').

Hi, thank you Dennis, I will follow your legendary advice. My casting lines are very light on the inside.
