Clifford Aluminum head?

Has anyone been to the Clifford site lately?

On the Ford Engine Data sheet, I found the following in the footnotes:

Footnote G: Clifford is in the process of developing a cast aluminum head with seperate intake manifold. Estimated date: 1/01/04 Check postings on site for details.

Interesting...

Not that I can see.

The only reference I could find is that little footnote that I cut and pasted into the original thread. There isn't even any mention in the News section of the site yet...

hahah yea sure it is , maybe he,s gottne a bigg garage !! got some room left over ? i only got a roof ....nothing else to work in/ under !! always must work ouside in the cold and rain !

If you have this months' issue of mustang monthly there is an article titled "Six-Cykinder Performance Guide" on page 27. On page 30 of the issue in the left hand corner they mention that clifford is planning to introduce a cross flow aluminum cylinder head. Again no mention of price just says spring of 04. Good article though, worth a read. Should of asked mike(fordsixparts.com) for a little input though  !! Worth keeping an eye on though. Even though I am getting ready to install my Oz head. I just talked to Clifford this afternoon to order my new valves, springs, retainers and locks.

While on the phone, we talked about the head. They said they are working on it, but don't know exactly what the price will be yet. It will be expensive to make, so they want to be sure they can make it at a price that people will buy.

He did say it would be a complete head - assembled with the entire valve train (1.75 intake/1.50 exhaust valves, adjustable rockers, etc) down to the valve cover.

He bounced a price off me to see if I thought I the price was right...$2499. I don't think that is set in stone, but it is probably in the neighborhood.

With the OZ heads getting harder and harder to come by, this may be the ticket down the road.

Got them hidden all over town. Just dont tell my girl friend. She thinks i just have two. It dont get cold hear it just rains until the clouds run out. All of them are under construction for the rest of my life i think??

sorry about the double post...

dunno if you asked or not, but did he mention if it would be available as a bare head?

For $2499. they can stick that head up there --- I dont think they will get any orders. Russell
well, i'll disagree with that... (remember that guy who paid Clifford oodles of money to rebuild his engine?)
but, i don't think there will be any buyers from here

No, I didn't ask if it would be offered bare.

From the context of the conversation, I would say that as of yesterday they were leaning to only offering the complete head.

Who knows. If selling the head "complete" drives the price up too high, maybe they will offer it "bare" to keep it competitive, but I'm just guessing. It sounds like they are still feeling out the market to see the best way to do this.

Is $2499 for a "complete" blueprinted Aluminum Crossflow head too much? I don't know. I would have to sit down and price out all the parts and work (plus shipping for those of us in the States) for a OZ 2V head.

Has anyone sat down and figured out what it costs from ordering to installation?

When you can find a OZ head, they run $450-600 either bare or setup but needing a rebuild. A good vale job can run $250 -350. Having said that I have one I rebuilt for my son Jason and we're in it about $800. with new valves but otherwise a stock head job, mine was a stock head, rebuilt with new valves and then later pulled and then was ported, back cut all valves and cleaned up for a little better performance I'm in my Aussie 2V about $1500.00 . So to me it would be hard to have over $1500. in a complete fully tricked out Aussie 2V delivered to your door here in the USA. I like the idea of a cross flow that would bolt onto the 200 Ford six, but not sure it would be worth the extra $1000.00? :?

I'm in my Aussie head for $600 for head, $500 for rebuild with enlarged US valves. So $1100 to my door. So long as prices stay around there, cliffy will be hard pressed to compete, at least for people like me without a lot of money.
