Compatable donor for 200 I6

I'm looking for a little help in finding a suitable donor of 200 I6 to replace the 170 in my 71 bronco.
There are two for sale in my area, one from a 66 Mustang and the other a 78 Granada, would one be
better suited for my application than the other? Both are in similar condition and are running engines,
I will be rebuilding it in the future though. They are asking $200 more for the Mustang.
Thanks for any information.

go for the newer one
dual pattern drilled bellhousing (guarenteed)
larger intake log
see if they will toss in the Duraspark II distributor and wiring
hardened valve seats

1 quick question.. how many freeze plugs you got on the passenger side of that 170?

Ron, that's the kind of information I'm looking for, Thanks.
I have 3 frost plugs on my 170.

I agree with CoupeBoy and for every reason he noted.

If you got the 78 engine, I would upgrade the carb. The 1Bbl from that era would be smogged and not as desirable.

Good luck and have fun.

Looks like the motor out of the 78 Granada was a 250, I had the seller check the water pump and it had four bolts.
He though he had a 200, I did some more checking and it looks like 77 was the last year for the 200 in the Granada.

To bad that would have been a good deal, well back to looking :bang:

The 250 would be great but from what I understand for it to work in a Bronco you need to change the oil pan
since there are no bolt on swaps you need to fabricate one, and add a body lift since the 250 is taller than
the 170 or 200.

I'm in Alberta Canada and it is hard to find 200 CID engines around here.
