okies i know my stuff on converters for V8's and whats needed.. however is it the same for these I6s.

In most 70-80 C4 trannys are they 11 inchers? with a 26 spline? whats the stock stall on these puppies?

gonna be pulling my tranny out and going to a better converter with the typical braised and bearing stuff.

what have you guys done? stall? size? (what you did to the motor to match?)

thanks

Maverick Man,

All things aren't the same. These motors make less torque, so they converter is going to stall at lower speeds.

I ran an 11" TCI "Breakaway" converter and wasn't too happy with it, simply because I couldn't get it to stall much over 1800 rpms. I was hoping for about 2300 stall. I should have gone with a 10" unit.

That was behind a 250, Argie head, C4, 3.50 gears....

My wife's '63 Falcon is using a Hughes 10" 3500 stall unit and it seems to work great! We're getting around 3000 stall with it behind a 250. It's the 10.5" bolt pattern (157 tooth flexplate).

Will

hum.. was gonna stick my old tight 2600-2800 stall out of my car that had a v8 in it.... so you think it will stall less behind a I6?

hum not looking for something like that just yet... but maybe soon. just wanna get this thing moving first!. thanks for the fyi though.

Also remember that adding torque with a blower, nitrous, etc. will increase stall speed, even on a stock converter.

thanks guys.

just put my older 2600 11inch converter in my car along with a mild shift kit. it worked and imporoved as i hope it would!

it takes off like a champ now... but goes no where after that.... lol.
