Have a siezed waterpump in the XF. I was driving to work last week, it snapped a fan belt. Alt light came on, temp rose very quickly. I babied it home, put a new fan belt on without bothering to check the waterpump.
Net result is I drove to work again yesterday, belt started slipping half way between work and kalgoorlie, so I just turned the stereo up to drown out the sound. Started losing power 5km from work, so I popped the clutch, it stalled instantly. Only just rolled into the carpark at work, I was not going to leave it at the side of the road - seen too many cars picked to the bones within 12 hours out this way. Knocked off work, hopped in, turned the key, and theres no load on the starter whatsoever. great.
But, I've done some phoning around on site, and I've located an EL XR6 Auto wreck to be had for $cheap. Too cheap to pass up, $1000. Not original motor, it has the EF-style distributorless ignition system. Looks like I'll be putting an XR6 motor into the XF
Off the top of my head, this is what I'll need:
T5 bellhousing
pilot bearing
XG/XH engine mounts
computer (Wolf3D EMS???? I dont want to have to muck around with SmartLock on an exchange computer).
Will I need to add an OHC flywheel and clutch to the list? Or will Crossflow bolt on?
Will the XF fuel pump be good enough for the OHC? or will the EL fueltank fit?
Will the crossflow's T5 pilot shaft be compatible with the OHC motor?
Thanks in advance fellas!
