Correct idle speed for a '68 200 I6?

Hi,

I want to do an engine idle speed test but I am not sure what the idle speed for my '65 Mustang should be. Before I realized there was a '68 I6 in there I bought a '65 shop manual. What should the engine idle speed for a 1968 200ci I6 be with a 2bbl 5200 Holley carb? Does the bigger carburetor (and dual exhaust system with FSPP dual out header) make a difference in what the engine idle speed should be?

Thanks,

Justin

Justin,

I don't know the answer but I did remember what I like best about that carb. It was the sound it made when the secondary opened up, really sweet. The 2300 I have now is progressiva so I don't get that. You'll want to go back and read all the old posts dealing with the jets for these. I don't recall which ones are in there but be aware there is a different numbering system. If I can find that old post I'll add it here.

Glad you got it running.

Don

I will have to read them more thoroughly now that I have the carb on there. I had been wanting to do the carb upgrade since you sent me the carbs. That was in early January. I did not think I would ever get it done because of the weather and other Mustang projects I had going. I will not be able to take the Mustang on the street until I get an adapter plate for the carburetor. There is too big of a gap with my current air cleaner so I can only start it up and drive it up and down the driveway to make sure it is drivable. Hopefully I will get the adapter plate Saturday and get the Mustang on the road that day or Sunday and test the new carb out! :D

How did the port divider installation go? Has the epoxy held up? Mine has held up fine and I installed it last August.

Thanks again Don.
